Them Are Smart Apples

This company was plugged on Daily Candy today and I was so impressed with their design ideas I had to share.
If you like Apple products, you'll smile at some of the concepts: like a large, white magnetic board with magnets that look just like Mac desktop windows (even for Illustrator/Photoshop!) or coasters that look exactly like iPhone icons. An external hard drive that looks like a huge audio tape to sit on your desk...and the Pantone swatch lampshade?! Fun as ever.
Go take a look. Way cool stuff.

It's Coming

It is. And I love it.
The days are getting warmer.
Here's a great song to dream to when you leave the window open in the afternoon....

San Francisco/Tour of CA

Last weekend we went to San Francisco with some friends to visit old haunts, eat great food and watch some of the Tour of CA cycling race live. It's always so fun to go back.
Scott and I arrived earlier than everyone on Thursday so we rode the trolley and shopped- now tourists in our own town. Later we busted out some dancing like we were kids again. There is a venue we would see shows at, called 330 Ritch. And on every Thursday they still have 'Popscene', which hosts great bands weekly as well as indie Dj's. We took the bus and walked those dark streets, down the alley to the door smiling all the while. Saw a local band called "Love Like Fire", danced, people watched..nearly threw out a hip we were probably the oldest ones there. We didn't get back to the hotel until, um, 2am. 2AM! Pathetic, right? So fun to do that together like old times, though. We crashed and woke early the next day to meet our friends for an athletic walking tour of the town and some brunch. The rest of the weekend was filled with a lot of different adventures. Some of the deets are captioned in the slideshow, so view if it interests you. But great times with some great friends!

This week home has been filled with the usual. On Friday night we redeemed our Christmas gift to Scott's parents and went to dinner, followed by taking them to the Beatles 'LOVE' show at the Mirage.
I still have no words for this show. It is the third time we have seen it and I can't help getting emotional goosebumps! It is so absolutely amazing and that music.... agh! The Beatles made history for a reason and I've been listening to them all weekend. If you haven't see this yet, GO. It should not be missed in a lifetime.

Have a stacked week ahead, including Book Club (Finished "Catcher" and am very interested to talk about it)... then February is already OVER. Crazy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM

Is this picture crazy or what?! Who does that look like to you?! We watched family movies a year or more ago and I remember being blown away at how much Elliet looked like my Mom. Here is proof. I always tell Elliet how beautiful I think she is and wish I looked more like her... now if I can only look like my Mother when I am a grandma, I'll be singing in the rain.
I love my Mom. She is so rich with wisdom and understanding, and I use those words very carefully. She really understands many things. We can talk about such intricate subjects and she is right there with you, fascinated and engaged. She also has a great sense of humor (a must with my Dad) and talented as ever. Mom! I hope you know how much you are loved, what a wonderful woman you have grown up to be and I am so so so grateful you are my Mother. I LOVE you. I hope you had a fantastic Birthday complete with a drugstore white-frosting sheet cake and many kisses!

Still Small Style

My sister in law had this on her blog and led me to the etsy site selling these printed cards. VERY cool for kids rooms- on the cheap, too.
Thanks, Jess!

Great Golden Gate

Hitting the city of my heart for a few days. It's great to visit the streets that used to be mine. Scott and I are joining some friends in San Francisco to watch a little TofC and play! Want to meet us at Pluto's? Great!
So- the image. For some reason I get excited at the site of my 'pile' that forms when I leave for a trip. Things to wander my mind into and think, be inspired, etc. Usually I am overly ambitious and end up with a thick stack of stuff to go through that I never touch (which is also good). I tried to keep it small this go around... I mean, that is kind of a joke- I'll be lucky to finish my book club book! Hope you all have a great long weekend and perhaps get to wander through a pile of your own. :-)
Happy Valentines Day!

*See the Diana F+ Camera!? Got that for Christmas (yippee-hooray) and have ordered film but not had a chance yet to experiment. I'll be testing it in the ci-tay. So watch soon for some cool SF shots (if they turn out, that is... and if I can find a place to develop the film, that is....)

Be My Valentine Always

Ahh yes. L'Amoré. It is the week of love and I've been saving this treat just for a February reveal. Found this site* a couple months back and it won me over. I am not much of a mushy, romantic girl but these photos make me one. I dare you to browse through some of the images and not feel at least a little longing. :-)
Mind you, viewing should probably be kept to the eyes of the experienced. It's a little PG-13 now and again. So dreamy, though.

These few that I posted here are some of my faves, esp. the couple on the blanket. Oh, man. So sweet. All they need is some headphones with a little Fleet Foxes? Band of Horses? Boys II Men? Whatever floats your boat, man.
Enjoy! And then go hug that true love in your life.

*I have decided that if you want the source, email me and I'll send it. Otherwise, I may get egged for leaking something racey!

Love Projects

Just posted a few Valentines projects in AcadeMe. Go take a gander if you're in the 'mood'.... full of tips and pointless purpose. Happy Love Day!

Sistrogen

My Sister called me about a week ago and said that she, along with my sis-in-law, thought it would be great to get away and come visit me in sunny Las Vegas. After two days of pressure and coordination, everyone was able to come: Mom, Julia, Jess and Randi (Rich's fab beau). I was more than happy to have them come but we did have a week stacked with various things but, hey- why not. So come they did and we had a great time. We crammed a lot around the few things that needed to be done and it was wonderful to be visitED (as I usually go to them with kids in tow). They all arrived late Thursday night so Friday and Saturday were filled with very important things: shopping, eating, discussing serious matters over lunch (as you can see), computer tutorials and new blog banner designs, pedicures and crafting. Jess and I even squoze in a quick morning run on Saturday so she could see and smell all the goodness of Red Rock. I've been exploring some new trails and we found yet another. I wore my Star Trek captain vest to instill authority (I think it worked. Jess had no idea that I didn't know where I was going. Ha!)
We were determined to get in some craft time so we busted out a project I had around 10pm on Saturday night. Bad idea, people. I mean, the giggles are ripe and ready to harvest, but it is apparent that judgement tapers and things take on interesting form. Still, everyone created a pretty cool Vday box so we got our fix. (Also posted in AcadeMe)
I love my family and it was really fun to have them all come and hang out. Thanks, girls for coming! I had a great time!

Here are Randi and Jess concentrating very hard on the next steps..... I can neither confirm nor deny if any swear words were uttered.

Soft Drama

Things have been crammed into limited time lately. Last week a lot happened so I have some catching up to do and am in the process now so watch for more posts.
In the meantime, it's a little boring but I MUST comment on our recent weather. We've had some rain and it's been so wonderful and incredibly beautiful! I happened to have my camera with me as I was veering off the road gaping at the sky... so I snapped some pics. Look far and low and you can see spots of sun on some rainfall, and even see the mountains. It's left snow on the mountains a few times between showers. Beautiful February weather. Is it to match the tempest of ferocious love in honor of Valentines Day?! Ha. You be the judge. It moves me, anyway....so pretty. Lots of 'love' stuff coming in honor of mushy-mush Vday. Stay tuned. :-)

Sticker Shame

For years I wondered why these were ever made AND even used...where
did people buy them? Who supplied America with such a trend? I still
don't understand it but I just discovered them at my local JoAnne's.
Available! Accessible! It's a sad sight, my friends. I mean, why stop
at the pets? Why not include how many toothbrushes you have? I have actually seen the car that had, like, eight cats in a row. Really? Really??
